We changed the battery in my 5C with a battery from Ifixit but now the home button doesn’t work. I can swipe right and some of my old apps come up to access like texts thankfully but the only button that works is the top on off button. That’s the only way to clear the screen. I can receive phone calls but can’t make them because I can’t get to that area of my phone.
Is it that the battery went flat and would not charge afterwards? If yes, you need the Tristar replaced by someone that does micro soldering as when that goes faulty it will stop the phone from charging when the battery goes flat. You would have to find someone locally in your area that does micro-soldering to get that replaced. The other issue with home button not working, most likely one or two of the connection prongs on the charging port to the home button got damaged, though they may be just pushed down too much and just need to be pried back up a bit. You can confirm whether you need to replace the home button or not by shorting the two pins with a metal object / tool. When you short them it simulates a home button press. If it works, home button cable most likely needs to be replaced, if not charging port needs to be replaced as that comes with the home button connector.
Well, now the phone won’t come on at all. The battery was charged and working even though I had limited use of the phone. We opened it back up to make sure all is well with home button and when we tried to get the phone to work again. Nothing. So far, replacing the battery has caused issues, not solved them.
Replaced original battery with IFIXIT battery, and had no HOME button and NO CHARGE of the new battery. I put the old battery back in (It discharges quickly in use) and the HOME button now WORKS, and the battery charges. This leads me to believe it is the NEW BATTERY creating the problem.
