The battery life on my Macbook Pro has suddenly decreased drastically to about 5 minutes on a full charge. 2 days ago on a full charge the battery would last at least 2 hours under heavy cpu usage. I have tried the SMC reset, recalibrating the battery, erasing the startup disk and reinstalling MacOS but nothing seems to work… Any idea on what caused the sudden change and how to fix it?
Well I’m sorry to say the battery has just run out of juice. If you look at your cycle count one is lucky to get 800 cycles, you’ve blown past that with 1,119 !! I’m suspecting you tend to wait until the battery is fully discharged before recharging. If you had a NiCad battery this would be a good practice! But LiOn or even Lead Acid batteries don’t like lots of deep cycles! You’ll need to get a new battery and alter your usage habits.
