I just replaced the battery in my old Surface Pro 4. After reassembly, the device powers up and the backlight comes on, but nothing comes up on the display. I have connected it to an external monitor and confirmed that it is booting to the OS. I have also confirmed that the touch functionality is still working, by mirroring the main display with the external.

If I’m not mistaken, when you disconnect and reconnect the battery in certain surface models, it blows a fuse for the image circuit. That or you could’ve damaged the display.

Have a detailed look at the connector under the microscope. I‘ve had no touch and found a stucked pin inside the connector on the board. Maybe this is the same with your connector.

Did you solve your problem? I’m having the same issue, i get a subtle backligth but no image. Maybe related to a damaged ribbon flex cable?
