Chosen Solution

I have a Back light issue and I requested APPLE for a free repair which was turned down by them. The service provider in India says the problem will not get solved by changing the flex cable alone we need to change the display board also, it is an expensive option. Kindly guide me please Narayanan Lakshmanan India

The Flex cable issue Apple was covering under an extended Warranty 13-inch MacBook Pro Display Backlight Service Program. Are you sure you saw the Stage Light effect as described here: The Design Flaw Behind MacBook Pro’s “Stage Light” Effect then it should have been fixed under warranty. Did you bring your system to an authorized Apple Dealer? If you did and you are very sure then you’ll need to escalate your issue up the food chain as they should have fixed it! Sadly India has a few fake Apple dealers which mimic the Apple Stores almost to the letter! So its hard to tell if its real and if you ask them they may even tell you they are. Go to the Apple web site and locate the store nearest to you there. If you don’t see one then there just isn’t one! Again, I would contact Apple and tell them they have someone masquerading as real and they aren’t. Otherwise let’s dig a bit deeper here: Did you try connecting your system to an external monitor, did you see your desktop and it’s icons?Did you try pressing a lit flashlight against the display at a sharp angle and could you see your desktop and it’s icons? Replacing the display assembly is not overly hard as you can see here in this guide MacBook Pro 13" Function Keys 2017 Display Assembly Replacement the trick is finding a display locally.
