So, I do laptop repairs on my free time, and this week Ii got an Asus X541U which was reported to have shutdown after windows updates and wouldn’t turn on. After cleanup I tried booting it without the battery and it worked. Then I reassembled it with the battery and it did turn on, but after shutting it down it wouldn’t turn on again. Once again I removed the battery and the machine worked fine. So I thought the battery was the culprit, so I ordered a replacement and put it in the machine. This time it booted to the Asus logo, turned off and then booted back on and went in to windows, i let it charge, restarted it with no issue, but once I turned it off now it won’t turn on again. So when the battery is “cold” it works but once it’s “hot” it won’t… I would power reset it but the battery is internal and I have to remove most of the screws of the mobo to get it out… has anyone else experienced such a behaviour from a laptop of this model or a different one?

I had the same issue, searched a lot for the occuring problem and i found what was causing this you must open again the laptop, near the battery on the motherbase there is a hole for a screw and it is labelled with some star simbol, put a screw there presto it works from the factory it has some aluminium between, when you take out the motherbork the aluminum breaks and the problem appears

I`ve seen a similar error on x54 series of Asus a couple of times, but when you connect the laptop with the battery and the power cord the laptop won´t power up but it shows that the battery is charging. So this is what I´ve done: -Upgrading the Bios Firmware -Downloading all the drivers from the Asus support center. It work twice in my case, but I can´t tell you that it will work with your laptop. Wish you luck!!

Hello guys,

I have a similar issue. I recently upgraded the ram and SSD to my asus X541U, everything went ok and after I put everything back together, the laptop will not turn on on battery, only when is plugged in. I opened it again, removed the battery, everything seemed alright, didn’t not see any leaks or damage. I made sure everything was put together correctly (cables, jacks, cords etc), the laptop is working fine, only that it won’t use its battery. What is even weird is that the battery is reflected both in bios and in windows as healthy, no issues were prompted. Did I miss something or what is happening? Is very frustrating because after this upgrade the laptop is actually performing very good (MAJOR difference, God, I can’t even say how frustrating it was to use it on the old setup with the old HDD and the internal RAM, what an unoptimized machine this was) but now I have this issue. Can you tell me if you had any similar cases and how did you fixed it?

Highly appreciate it!

Same issue, the notebook was working fine. I ve opened it to check if the motherboard has and empty slot for a memory upgrade (I was not sur if it has onboard memory or a sodimm installed). I ve put every piece on place again and the notebook didn’t power on again. Remove the motherboard again, connect only the motherboard to the the trnaformer and the white led turns on! Put all the piece again, noting, remove the battery and the notebook turns on. But in my case some keys on the keyboard did’t work: keys yuhjn67 o the qwerty part and the keys 23.-+ in the numeric, so may be the power button has the same issue.
