I have an old asus k55n which originaly had a US layout keyboard. I had to replace it because i damaged two keys but i was only able to get a replacement with a german layout. However the replacement barely works. The “R” key works but that’s about it. Half the keys are swapped(e.g. “esc” and “f7” are swapped) and the other half doesent work at all. This is the case even in the bios so it must be a hardware problem. The keyboard is conected to the motherboard through a strip with 24 contacts and the german layout has a differently shaped “enter” key, so i suppose the motherboard expects those contacts to be mapped differently. Can i remap how the motherboard interprets the keyboard? or do i have a different problem?

@ngabo the mapping of the keyboard would not render it functionless. “other half doesent work at all” sounds like either a bad keyboard or a bad keyboard IC on the board. Double check your work and the connector. check the ribbon cable. After that, try a USB keyboard and see if that will work. I would replace the keyboard once more.
