my asus gtx 970 recently started to be in max clock and memory when idle. the temps are around 60-70C and when the fan is at a100% its on the high 50s. the power is on adaptive and shadowplay in off, also scanned for maleware and its clean. pc specs: i7-4770 gtx 970 12gb ram z87-a windows 10
update: just noticed that after sometime it returnes to normal core clock and memory and the temps are around 40C. and when i enter a game the gpu useage is 100% and i get around 20 fps also my useage is all voer the place its 5 and than 100 and then 5 again .
Have you tried clean installing graphics drivers? Sometimes it can be something as simple as that. Also check in Nvidia Control Panel in the 3D Global Application settings that the preferred performance mode is adaptive / balanced and not maximum performance. Also check the Control panel > Power Options make sure that the power plan is set to Balanced and not High Performance. Also are you running multiple monitors by any chance? Your GPU usage is 100%, you should be able to find what is causing it via the task manager processes list. Look for something with GPU Engine - listed on it. Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
