I recently replaced the battery in a MacBook Pro A1502 EMC2678 (13in Retina from late 2013, A1493 battery) Previous battery and charger worked but old bat was over 1100 cycles and wouldn’t hold charge long. Removed old battery, installed new battery, but it won’t charge. The battery IS recognized by the system, CoconutBattery see’s it as well, but it’s status is listed as “Not charging” and there is NO light at all, on the end of the MagSafe cable when plugged in. Any ideas? I’ve tried unhooking/reconnecting the battery, PRAM and SMC resets multiple times, it see’s it’s there but it simply will NOT charge it, unit will run off the charger only (with no battery connected), so I don’t THINK the charger is the problem.Forgive the phone pics didn’t have time to do proper screen caps :)
The battery indicator at top says “plugged in not charging”, yet with only 2% battery charge left, when plugged in, it’s running for over an hour now, so again if the cord/power supply were bad I’d think the 2% would go quick and it’d be gone. I did notice holding Option-APPLE,SYSTEM INFORMATION, shows the AC charger as connected, but the ID revision Family serial all read as 0X0000, and charging: NO. So my question is, is this a DC in board issue? or possibly a bad battery? Any other thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
I am not Sure About the answer but maybe the Battery and you Laptop are not compatible.
Lets give this a try! Carefully disconnect the battery, now with nothing connected to your system press and hold the power button to fully discharge the logic board. Now with the battery still disconnected, plug in the MagSafe charger, the system should spontaneously startup, let it finish booting and do a clean shutdown. Now plug the battery back in and then the charger. Now restart your system, let it run for a good 2 minutes so SMC has had a chance to reset things. Now launch CoconutBattery take a second snapshot of the screen I find the Command + Shift + 5 keys is a bit better than a pic from a camera. either way lets see what it shows now.
