I was recently working on my macbook after replacing the ram. I accidentally shorted the battery during when I was unplugging the battery connector and the logic board smoked and now theres no light on the magsafe charger and will not turn on.
Hey Karen I agree with @oldturkey03 pictures would help show what may be the cause. However, from your description of what happened it sounds to me that the MacBook’s battery shorted the module on the Logic Board that controls the power. What you can do to test the issue is remove your battery and plug the MacBook in with only the MagSafe cable. Doing so tests the electrical components of the Logic Board. If the indicator light on the charger illuminates green the laptop still is operate-able (there should be no amber light since there isn’t any battery installed). If the indicator light doesn’t display anything then the Logic Board itself had been shorted. Check for any ashy looking plugs and connectors that may be damaged. You should also check to see that the RAM you installed is compatible with the board and that it is securely installed. I believe the RAM required is DDR3 SO-DIM. The RAM modules themselves should snap into place, and only fit one way. If RAM isn’t installed correctly the Mac will not start at all. I hope this helps you good luck!
