Do aftermarket home buttons still work as I read that Apple had something in plan where aftermarket home buttons with lcd’s don’t work only the original button that came with the phone works. Is this still a thing or has it been removed? Thank you

Has been so since the iPhone 5s. None of the Touch ID sensors from aftermarket works, even if you swap original buttons between original phones, they won’t work. Since iPhone 7, not even the button function works.

Third-Party home buttons do not work. It will automatically bring up Assistive Touch. You can get the home button calibrated at an Apple Store, but you’ll wind up paying for a repair because Apple does not like third-party replacement components or repairs.

There is an aftermarket option that works (I have just installed and test it on an iPhone 7): https://www.partsfixit.com/jc-universal-… It comes with a home button and little connector for the logic board. The connector must be secure and lined up and having the shield secured ensures that. Then the button pairs with the phone through bluetooth. Very grateful for this option now.

Still a thing with 7plus
