I recently replaced my screen for my iphone 6s but the screen is black. I did not remove the battery when replacing it but i did shut the phone off. I did notice a small puff of smoke coming out those ribbon cables when connecting the 3 cables back to the actual phone. I tried to put the old screen back but that did not work either, is there anything i can do to fix this?

Backlight filter is blown. It happens when screen is connected or disconnected while the battery is connected to the logic board. You’ll need to take the phone to a local reputable repair shop that does micro-soldering on iPhones to get it fixed.

By “puff of smoke”, do you mean dust? (That’s what I hope) It maybe be a bad screen, the display connectors are damaged, or your motherboard died. To check the motherboard, plug in the phone to a computer with iTunes, and see if it’s recognized. If not, you’re screwed.
