Chosen Solution
The lcd and digitizer was cracked so I bought a full replacement for it and installed. The screen looks great, just like the original. I bought the grade S replacement off of etradesupply.com. After playing around with it for awhile I’ve worked out that it still recognizes touch in all of the areas of the screen but if i sit there and tap the same areas multiple times it will only register half of the presses. This of course makes texting atrocious. Does anyone have any idea why this would be? Please and thank you for you help.
Most likely the assembly is defective or the cable was not attached properly. I would open it back up to reconnect the cable, make sure to disconnect the battery first. I’m sorry this answer is so late, but hopefully you were able to figure things out in the mean time.
