Hi, so my friend just dropped his iPhone 8+ from 2 meters a few days ago. The only problem he saw was broken display. So he changed the screen and the button next day and everything except touch ID seemed to be working fine. We started testing the phone today and unfortunately came across a few problems - all 3 cameras are showing black screen, the flash, ambient and proximity sensors are not working at all, and also the phone reboots randomly (sometimes after 20 minutes, often after about 2 minutes). He told me that the rebooting was not happening before he changed the screen but can’t tell about the cameras and sensors next to it, because he didn’t test it. So my question is what could be the problem(s)? Is there a chance the cameras and sensors are disabled by one repairable error? Any ideas are welcome, thank you!
Did he transplant the front facing camera and all the accompanying sensors from his original display? Or did his replacement screen come with a new one? Either way, it sounds like this may be the root of the issue since the sensors are also part of that flex cable and one bad camera can cause all 3 to lose functionality. I would also have a look at the iPhone Keeps Restarting wiki page and see if it sheds any light. I would especially have a look at the second half of the page, since it’s very unlikely that software is going to be the cause of this issue.
