Last weekend my Honda wouldn’t start. Hooked it up to jumper cables, let charge for a minute & it started. Next morning leaving work it began running hot, stopped put water in it & drove it home. On that ride it fluctuated up & down. Ran fine for 2 days then I went in Walmart for a minute came back out it was dead. It jumped right off but then started running hot again & fluctuating up & down. Went to the store the next day didn’t run hot but when I came out it was dead again but I shook the cables & it started. I was just wondering what you guys may thinks going on with it. -always ran fine til now. -I think I may have some frays in my serpentine belt cause I can see them while it’s spinning.
If it wouldn’t start but then did start after moving the battery cables around then your battery wasn’t dead. You may however, have dirty battery terminals, loose battery connectors, loose wires, other dirty or loose connectors (ie starter motor) which will cause intermittent problems. Disconnect the battery clamps, clean and re-tighten and disconnect, clean, and re-tighten any other relevant connections. Use a multimeter to check battery cable wires for continuity while wiggling the wires while disconnected from the battery. Re: overheating (not sure if you are referring to the battery or coolant system but will assume cooling system) Check your radiator water levels, hoses and their connections and under the vehicle for possible coolant leaks. Or just say bugger it and take it to your local garage to test with their computer and tell you what’s wrong! lol BTW, all things “run fine” right up to the minute when they don’t work fine. :-)
As Prop Man said for the battery. Your water pump is worn also. Get it replaced because it that goes bang, I have no idea what damage that will do to the pulleys, belts or anything else.
