Chosen Solution

I bought my 2017 iMac 27” a1419 2TB Fusion Drive iMac new and want to speed it up and extend it’s useful life for me. I purchased a 2TB Blade SSD to replace the stock 128GB and want to put in a 6TB HDD in place of the stock 2TB drive for SuperDuper & Time Machine duty. Are there any HDD’s that can just plug and play without having to buy the OWC Sensor HDD cable? Thank you!

First if you are using anything newer than High Sierra I would walk away from any cloning software like SuperDuper. The new APFS file system is still a work in progress! So we don’t know the twists and turns Apple is planning. Stick with TimeMachine! Now as far as stoking your system to the hilt I would be careful with the blade SSD make sure you still with either a real Apple unit or either OWC or Transcend which are fully compatible, I fully understand the desire to go cheap with an M.2 SSD. I’ve got a drawer full of dead ones and the fangled adapters. You don’t need any thermal sensor for the HDD.
